WordPress 6.2 is almost ready for release

The beta version of WordPress 6.2, which is scheduled to be launched on March 28th, 2023, just arrived a few days ago. It will be the second key release of 2023 and include a number of important enhancements and new features.

We have been keeping a close eye on the progress and testing out the new features on our test sites.

Use the WordPress Beta Tester plugin to test out the beta version on your PC or in a staging environment. Please be aware that some of the beta’s features might not make it into the final version.

New features include a drag-and-drop editor, improvements to posts, pages, custom post types and taxonomies, and improved support of custom CSS and JS (or JSX).

You’ll also find changes to taxonomies, autocomplete search options, auto-export files from themes and plugins, multilingual compatibility and more in version 6.2 of the popular content management system (CMS).

There are more than two dozen new features in the latest release of WordPress.

quicker updates are achieved by moving directories rather than copying them. (Details) 
An additional function called switch_to_user_locale() is now available. (Details)
Only when material is modified should autosave revisions be created. (Details)
Themes that employ style variants should be tagged with that information. (Details)

In total, WordPress 6.2 beta 1 has 292 improvements, 354 editor bug fixes, and more than 195 requests for the core of WordPress 6.2.
